My dog is a genius

I say my dog is a genius but he may actually just be stubborn.  I’ve tried to teach him to sit, heel, stay, etc. but nothing ever stuck and he would never pick anything up very easily….I thought.  Then yesterday I brought him to obedience training.  Of course, he was the only ‘bad dog’ in the group and kept jumping and pulling.  The trainer took him to use as an example and I think we were both surprised when it only took one correction for Bram to fall in line.  He even stayed for several minutes before being allowed to move again.  After that, even I had no problems out of him.  He’s even been watching whoever has him which the trainer said usually takes a week or two at least with rambunctious puppies like Bram.  We were worried he wouldn’t learn much with training since he’s part Siberian husky which is a stubborn breed but he is also half Border Collie which the assistant trainer credited with being the reason he caught on to everything so quickly.  At first I thought this was going to be a long, difficult road to a well-behaved dog but I find myself actually looking forward to class again tonight

    What was the correction?

The correction was a very quick jerk on the leash to the side, not up since that would choke him. All the dogs have to wear choke collars in the “P” position so they will loosen if pulled.
