Finally back to blogging

So, I’ve been MIA for a while for good reason.

This is how it happened.

On December 31st at 1:30 am, I woke up and suddenly felt wet as I was walking to the bathroom. I ran in there to discover that I was bleeding pretty heavily. DH immediately rushed me to the nearest ER to be evaluated. We were there for 3 hours (and no one else was in the ER so it wasn’t like we were waiting on more urgent cases). Finally, the doctor has me give a urine sample to be tested for a UTI and then does a pelvic exam with the aid of an OB nurse. During the exam, he took a swab and explained that if it turned blue that meant I was leaking amniotic fluid. It turned blue immediately. DH and I were devastated. The nurse explained that I was miscarrying one or both babies and there was nothing they could do. They even refused to do an ultrasound. Shortly after, we were released and I was told to come back if the pain got too bad. The thing is, I wasn’t in pain at all. I told them several times but no one seemed to listen.

Later the same day, I got an emergency visit with my new OB who did an ultrasound and exam and discovered everything is perfectly fine and normal. She also explained that the ER doctor should have known that swab would turn blue in the presence of blood.

As a result of this scare, I was put on bed rest for a week. It was very boring but worth the boredom to make sure the babies are okay.

So glad that story had a happy ending. I was having a heart attack reading this. I can only imagine the torment you and your husband were going through.

Here’s hoping your roller coaster ride levels off soon.

Thank goodness everything is okay! I was so worried for you! Tell those babies to stay put for a while and grow!
